Will Havering Have A New Administration Come Friday Morning?
We all know that this Thursday, just two days from now, Havering voters will take to the ballot box and appoint a new council. But will voters turn out in their masses or are many simply apathetic towards voting
At the last local elections in 2022, Havering saw turnout figures that raised real concerns. Overall participation across the borough was around 33 percent. In some wards, turnout dropped to as low as approximately 23 percent, while the highest reached just over 43 percent. That is a significant gap and suggests that while some communities are engaged, others are clearly not.
Many residents are watching what is taking place across the country and a strong sense of disillusionment is rife. People are increasingly disappointed with what they see around them. The key issues being raised time and again include overdevelopment, antisocial behaviour on our streets, dirty high streets and building on green belt land.
Residents are also fed up with hearing councillors promise what will not happen, only to then point the finger at each other when concerns are raised. That cycle has left many questioning whether their vote will truly make a difference and are fed up of not having their voices heard.
So will Havering have a new administration at the helm this Friday and if so which way will it go?
Havering residents are angry that their voices are often not heard. This election could be an opportunity for them to change that. It is time to make your voice heard, vote on 7 May.
