Tesco Support For Healthy Eating At Rainham Village Primary School And Nursery.
The Member of Parliament for Dagenham and Rainham-Margaret Mullane MP has warmly welcomed the news from Tesco that Rainham Village Primary School and Nursery has been selected to join Tesco’s Free Fruit & Veg for Schools Programme, meaning that pupils at the school will benefit from free fruit and vegetables throughout the academic year.
Tesco launched its Free Fruit & Veg for Schools with the British Nutrition Foundation in 2024. The programme is focused on improving access to fresh fruit and vegetables for children in schools with higher-than-average levels of free school meal eligibility.
Tesco has set itself a goal: to help one million children access fruit and vegetables for free through its school and community programmes by July 2029.
Margaret told the Havering Daily: “This is a great initiative from Tesco that will benefit children across the nation. I am so pleased that Rainham Village Primary School and Nursery has been selected for inclusion, this will givegreater access to fresh fruit and vegetables during the school day, helping to build healthy habits and ensuring more young people can enjoy the benefits of nutritious food.”
