Community Effort Sees Fallen Tree Quickly Removed in Rainham
A fallen tree that blocked both a pavement and part of the road in Rainham was swiftly cleared thanks to a joint effort between local volunteers and a nearby business, restoring safe access for residents and motorists.
The incident saw a tree come down, completely obstructing a section of pavement and partially blocking the road, causing disruption for both pedestrians and drivers in the area.
Stepping in quickly, members of the Rainham and Wennington Havering Residents Association (HRA) worked alongside a local business owner from Lennard’s Pub to deal with the situation.

Using tools and teamwork, they were able to cut up and remove the tree, clearing the pavement and reopening the road so it was safe and accessible once again.
The response has been praised as a strong example of the community coming together to resolve an issue without delay, particularly in ensuring that vulnerable residents, including those with mobility needs or pushchairs, were not left without a safe route.

Daniel Beal from the HRA team highlighted the importance of acting quickly and said, “When issues like this arise, small actions can make a big difference to residents going about their daily lives.“
The involvement of a local business also underlines the role that businesses can play in supporting their communities, particularly during unexpected situations.
The incident serves as a reminder of the impact of strong local networks, where councillors, volunteers and businesses work together to support the community when it matters most.
