Mayor of Havering Replaces Fallen Tree on Estate Where He Grew Up
Local residents Carol and Rob Baker have expressed their gratitude to the Mayor of Havering, Councillor Gerry O’Sullivan, for personally arranging the replacement of a tree lost in last October’s storm on the estate where he spent his childhood.
The original tree, a long-standing feature of the estate, was uprooted during severe weather last year. Recognising its sentimental and environmental value, the Mayor took it upon himself to organise a replacement to maintain the estate’s natural beauty.
The new tree has now been planted, with a presentation plaque to follow once it settles in.
“The Mayor’s thoughtful action has fostered a sense of connection between his childhood roots and the present community,” said Carol Baker. “It shows real heart and pride in the area.”
The gesture is an example of the Mayor’s dedication to preserving local heritage and enhancing the environment for future generations. The act has brought a renewed sense of pride to the estate.
Councillor O’Sullivan commented: “This area played a big part in shaping who I am. Replacing the tree felt like the right thing to do – for the community and for the environment.”
