BREAKING: Three Conservative councillors leave party to Join Havering Residents Association.

In a surprising turn of events, three Conservative councillors in Havering have made the decision to cross the floor and join Havering Residents Association (H.R.A). This move signifies a significant shift in the political landscape for the borough.

The councillors who have joined the H.R.A are:

Their decision to switch parties follows in the footsteps of Councillor Robby Misir, who recently made a similar move to join the H.R.A. With these additions, the H.R.A now boasts a total of 25 councillors.

This development has implications for the balance of power within the Havering Council. Currently, the Conservatives hold 16 seats, Labour holds 9, the Residents’ Association Independent Group holds 2, and the East Havering Residents’ Group holds 3. The H.R.A’s strengthened position now puts them in a more competitive position, with any one party needing 28 councillors to take full control of the council.

H.R.A Chair, Cllr. Gillian Ford told the Havering Daily,

“We are delighted to welcome three new Members to the H.R.A team. All Councils are facing financial difficulties, Havering more than others. We have some incredibly challenging times ahead but with an expanded team we can ensure the voices of more residents are heard as we work our way through the tough times to get the borough on a sustainable future.”

As the political landscape continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see how this realignment shapes the future direction of Havering

The Tories in Havering have obviously failed all the residents and been really weak in not supporting our concerns, so more councillors will deflect to another party. Shame on the Tories once again for letting us all down!
