Collier Row parents shock as parking warden issues tickets on coaches taking children on school trip.

On Wednesday morning, parents in Collier Row were shocked to see a parking warden issue tickets on three school coaches waiting to take the children on an outing for the day. The parents were outside Rise Park School at 8.30am, dropping children off, when they heard angry exchanges between coach drivers and a parking warden

Cheryl, a parent who witnessed Wednesday’s incident, told the Havering Daily: “I heard the drivers talking and saw that a parking warden had arrived and was issuing all the coaches tickets. The drivers were trying to explain that they were there to take the children on a trip, but he ignored them and carried on processing the tickets.

“We couldn’t believe it, it was really crazy. He could clearly see that the coaches were outside the school for a reason and that the children were waiting to get on the coach.”

Parents at the school are also aware of a neighbour in the area who is regularly complaining about the children attending the school. Cheryl added: “There is a nearby resident who always stands outside his drive and is very rude to children and abusive to parents.

“This is outrageous though, these were coaches waiting to leave with our children on a school trip. None of us could believe what was going on!”

Local Mawney’s Ward Councillor Dilip Patel told the Havering Daily:”This is clearly wrong and I hope the coach drivers appeal these tickets immediately. I am happy to speak with council officers myself to resolve this matter as quickly as possible.”

Havering Council has been on the verge of bankruptcy for at least 18 months – as far as they’ve made public maybe longer. Hence record Council Tax levels for the same if not worse public services.

Anyone notice that for the last few months – record numbers of speeding fines (by going over just 1mile), record parking fines, I’m talking about a parking attendance hiding at 8am in car parks virtually empty to catch people out who haven’t displayed a ticket when the car park is empty for having stopped a few mins.

I dare say they’ve instructed all depts to increase revenue by any and all means. They’re a disgrace tory run council. I haven’t had a speeding fine in my entire 25 years of having a driving licence. Got one 2 weeks ago for doing 34 miles in a 30mile road for a period of 2 seconds as i was going downhill and momentum increased my speed and i didn’t brake hard enough. The camera is allowed to be off by 2% legally. That 2% is incidentally just the right amount to stop the camera going off.

Just a warning to everyone to take double the precautions because Havering Council are under orders to act like Islington and Hammersmith councils – basically squeeze every last penny and use every dirty trick in the book to increase revenue.
