Rainham Cultural Centre plans rejected by planning Inspectorate.
Rainham ward Councillor Jackie McArdle today writes in the Havering Daily on plans submitted to turn a former bank into a cultural centre.
Plans to turn Barclays Bank in Rainham into a Cultural Centre were refused by an Inspector for The Secretary of State last week.
Interested parties including Councillor Sarah Edwards and ex councillor David Durant who were in attendance at the hearing, were informed on the 3rd October by email from the Havering Planning Officer dealing with the case.
The appeal hearing went on for most of the day and was followed by an inspection of the site.
Councillor Edwards reiterated the three ward councillors opinions that this wasn’t the most suitable location due to the lack of parking, the site being on a one way system, the narrow streets and the noise and disturbance to local residents. We offered to help find a more suitable location for this project and we are hopeful that we can.
The appeal was refused on the following conditions, which is a public document that can be found on the Havering website.
