BREAKING: Romford GP given three life sentences, to serve at least 15 years.
A Romford GP who was convicted of 90 offences against women and girls has been jailed for at least 15 years.
Dr Manish Shah had claimed in his defence that he was actually practising ‘defensive’ medicine at the Mawney Medical Centre between 2009 and 2013.
He was found guilty last year of 25 offences against six victims at the medical centre near the market place.
In 2018 he was found guilty of further offences relating to another 18 women.
Today he has been handed three life sentences, with a recommendation to serve a minimum of 15 years in prison.
At the Old Bailey today Judge Anne Molyneaux QC told Shah: “You are a master of deception and you abused your position of power. This was a horrible abuse of trust and caused incalculable harm.”
One of the youngest women abused by Shah who was 15 years old at the time said in court that she now feels shaky, anxious and fearful at the idea of visiting a doctor after her abuse by Shah.
