Around 90 Firefighters Tackle Major Grass Fire at Hornchurch Country Park
Fourteen fire engines and around 90 firefighters are responding to a major grass fire at Hornchurch Country Park this afternoon.
London Fire Brigade crews are currently working to extinguish multiple seats of fire within the country park.
The incident is producing a significant amount of smoke, with residents living nearby being advised to keep their doors and windows closed where possible.
The Brigade received the first of 20 calls reporting the fire at 3.16pm today.
Firefighters from Romford, Ilford, Hornchurch and surrounding fire stations have been sent to the scene as crews continue efforts to bring the fire under control.
The incident comes as firefighters respond to another significant grass fire in the Havering area, with crews also called to a fire near Berwick Pond Road in Rainham.
Residents are being urged to avoid the immediate area while emergency services continue their work.
