A True Gentleman’: Andrew Rosindell MP Pays Heartfelt Tribute to Former Havering Mayor Gerry O’Sullivan
The MP for Romford, Andrew Rosindell, has paid a heartfelt tribute to former Havering Mayor and St Andrew’s Ward councillor Gerry O’Sullivan, following the sad news of his sudden death on Sunday. Describing Gerry as a great friend and a true gentleman, Mr Rosindell spoke of the respect he had for a man who dedicated so much of his life to serving the people of Hornchurch and the wider borough of Havering.
Sharing his personal tribute, Mr Rosindell told the Havering Daily:
“I am deeply saddened today upon hearing about the sudden loss of our former Mayor of Havering, Gerry O’Sullivan.
“Gerry was a great friend and a magnificent first citizen of our borough. He was a true gentleman who performed his duties as a councillor and Mayor with dedication and dignity.
“We campaigned together against ULEZ and shared similar views on many issues. I will miss him enormously.
“Thank you Gerry for your dedicated service to the people of Hornchurch and for our borough of Havering.
“My thoughts and prayers are with Sue and the family at this sorrowful time.”
Gerry was widely respected across the borough for his commitment to public service, his warmth and his dedication to the residents he represented.
During his time as a councillor for St Andrew’s Ward, and later as Mayor of Havering alongside his wife Sue as Mayoress, he built lasting friendships and made a significant contribution to the local community.
Mr Rosindell’s tribute is another reminder of the affection and respect Gerry inspired among those who worked alongside him and shared his commitment to Havering.
He will be remembered not only for the public roles he held, but for the friendships he made, the people he helped and the warmth he brought to those around him.
Our thoughts remain with Sue, daughter Kelly and the whole family at this very sad time.
Rest in peace, Gerry
