Upminster Incident: Man Who Admitted Firearm, Assault and Drug Offences Given Community Order

A 21-year-old man has been given a community order after admitting a series of offences, including possessing a prohibited firearm, dangerous driving, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and possession of a Class A controlled drug.

At Snaresbrook Crown Court on 25 June 2026, Shodiq Fasasi, of Teviot Road, Aveley, pleaded guilty to:

  • Possessing a prohibited weapon, contrary to Section 5(1)(b) of the Firearms Act 1968.
  • Dangerous driving.
  • Assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
  • Possession of a Class A controlled drug.

The court imposed a two-year community order, which will remain in force until 25 June 2028.

As part of the sentence, Fasasi must complete a six-month non-residential drug rehabilitation programme.

The offences arose from an incident in Stewart Avenue, Upminster, on 11 November 2025.

Police were called after a vehicle failed to stop following a collision at around 4.20pm.

At the time, the Metropolitan Police said a woman in her 50s was treated at the scene by the London Ambulance Service. A man in his 50s was also treated at the scene following a separate incident. Neither required hospital treatment.

Following the incident, Fasasi was arrested and later appeared before Barkingside Magistrates’ Court, where the case was sent to the Crown Court.

The proceedings concluded at Snaresbrook Crown Court when Fasasi entered guilty pleas to the offences before the court.
