Paying Tribute To A True Community Police Officer
At a time when police officers are often viewed unfavourably, here in Havering we are fortunate to have a fantastic officer who continues to go above and beyond for our community.
Chief Inspector Routley is a true community champion.
For the last two years, Mr Routley has served as Acting Chief Inspector across Havering and during that time he has made a genuine difference across the borough.
Whether attending community events, listening to residents’ concerns or supporting local charities and organisations, his commitment to Havering has been unquestionable.
Chief Inspector Routley is an officer who believes in visible policing and real community engagement. He works closely with residents from every part of the borough and has built strong relationships with countless community groups, charities and local organisations.
His support for the community is not something carried out from behind a desk. He is regularly present at events, speaking directly with residents and listening first hand to the issues affecting local people.
Mr Routley has also been the driving force behind the Clear Hold Build initiative in Havering, which has seen positive action taken in areas such as Hilldene where shoplifting and anti-social behaviour have long impacted local businesses and residents.
The initiative has led to the arrest of numerous prolific offenders and has helped restore confidence within the community.
Alongside enforcement work, Chief Inspector Routley has also placed huge importance on supporting young people across Havering.
He works closely with the excellent charity Youth Unity and has supported teenagers at ground level through engagement projects and community initiatives.
He is also the lead officer behind the hugely successful United in Football and Basketball events that provide free sporting opportunities for young people across the borough during school holidays.
Many residents say his approachable nature, professionalism and genuine care for the community have made him one of Havering’s most respected officers.
Harold Hill community champion Jan Sargent told the Havering Daily: ““Over the last two years, Acting Chief Inspector Charlie Rowtley has made a huge difference across Havering through his passion, commitment and determination to make our borough a safer place to live.
“His” work, particularly in Harold Hill through the Clear Hold Build initiative, has helped bring real positive change to the community and shown what can be achieved when the police work closely alongside residents and partners.
“What truly sets Charlie apart is how approachable and visible he is. He has broken down barriers between the police and the public, building trust and encouraging people to engage more openly with their local officers.
“I believe that Havering has benefited enormously from his leadership, and the impact of his work will be felt for years to come.”
In a role that often brings enormous pressure and scrutiny, Chief Inspector Routley has continued to lead with dedication, professionalism and compassion.
Here in Havering, your work is seen, appreciated and deeply respected Charlie.
