‘Ferry Lane Lido’ no nearer to being fixed, says Dagenham and Rainham MP.
Margaret Mullane MP has written to HaveringCouncil on behalf of constituents, motorists and businesses affected by ongoing flooding at the roundabouts linking the A13 with Ferry Lane in Rainham.
Despite overnight drainage works that took place on 19 and 20 September, substantial standing water remains at the site, continuing to cause disruption and raising concerns about road safety.
In response to enquiries from the MP’s office, Havering confirmed that investigations identified heavily silted gullies, drainage pipes and an adjacent watercourse are the problem. The Council has now said further extensive clearance works are required, but has not yet provided a timescale for completion.
Margaret told the Havering Daily: “Residents and motorists can see that the problem has not been resolved. Businesses are being affected, motorists are being affected and there are continuing concerns about safety.
The Council now accepts further work is needed but cannot say when that work will be completed. Residents deserve a clear timetable and a lasting solution to this road safety problem.”
