HAVERING JOINT TASK FORCE PURSUE TWO YOUTHS ON E-BIKES AFTER RIDERS ‘FAIL TO STOP’
A police pursuit erupted in Upminster after two Surron e-bike riders wearing balaclavas failed to stop for officers during a proactive operation targeting motor vehicle crime and anti-social behaviour involving e-bikes.
While on patrol in Upminster on Thursday, 24 September, officers attempted to stop two Surron e-bikes in St Mary’s Road as part of a proactive operation being undertaken in the area.
The activity was being carried out by MO7 Interceptors and Havering Joint Task Force following incidents of motor vehicle crime and ASB involving e-bikes.
The two riders failed to stop for police and officers engaged in a short pursuit.
The pursuit concluded on North Street after the bikes collided with street furniture.
No injuries were reported.
One of the boys, aged 15, was detained at the scene.
Both Surron e-bikes were seized under Section 135 of the Road Traffic Act.
The riders were also reported to the DVLA for driving otherwise in accordance with a licence, no insurance, failing to stop and driving without due care and attention.
