Mothers across Havering say they are living in fear as more teenagers are reporting being robbed on their way home from school often by gangs armed with knives.

Distressed parents have spoken out, with one mother telling the Havering Daily the ordeal her son endured after he was robbed at knife point while travelling home through Rainham.

The incident happened on Wednesday 14 May at around 6.30pm near Brights Avenue bus stop on Upminster Road South, close to Tesco.

The mother who did not wish to be named, says her son was targeted by two boys who threatened him with a knife before robbing him.

Now she is pleading for help from the public as police continue their investigation.

Another mother who also fears for her son’s safety told the Havering Daily:

“Parents are fed up,” she said.

“We are constantly worrying our children are going to be robbed for their phones, jackets or trainers every time they travel home from school.

“This has to stop.”

The incident is the latest in a growing number of concerns raised by parents across Havering surrounding youth robberies, intimidation and knife crime involving schoolchildren.

The mother is asking anyone who recognises the boys involved, or who may have witnessed the incident, to contact Romford Police Station quoting the crime reference number-01/7563229/26/

She added that any information, no matter how small, could help.

Residents have repeatedly voiced fears over groups of teenagers intimidating children around transport routes and shopping areas after school hours, with many now calling for increased police patrols across the borough.

CCTV footage of the two suspects.
