Following several years of constant campaigning and lobbying, Beam Park Labour Councillors Trevor Mckeever and Matt Stanton have received the news that TfL have accepted their proposal that an additional phase should be added to the traffic lights at Marsh Way in an effort to make the accident blackspot safer.

“Frustratingly, these much-needed improvements were to be lumped in with other works at the junction, which could only commence after the completion of works at Gallows Corner” Cllr Mckeever told the Havering Daily, “but with the delays there, we cannot afford for months of waiting now that the improvements are agreed. We need this to happen now.”

Cllr Stanton has written to Havering this week to ask for the works relating solely to the traffic lights to be commenced as soon as possible, “We are grateful for all the work that Havering and TfL have put into this issue, but after another collision at the junction today, it’s even more clear that we cannot afford to wait. This is important for our residents and the thousands of people who travel through the area every day.”
