MEET HAVERING’S FANTASTIC POLICE CADETS MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN OUR COMMUNITY
To mark National Cadet Week, Havering’s Metropolitan Volunteer Police Cadets (VPC) were delighted to welcome the Mayor of Havering to their weekly parade night at Emerson Park Academy.

The Havering VPC is made up of young people aged 13 to 18 who meet weekly for two-hour sessions led by police officers and police staff. These sessions include drill, physical training and a range of policing-focused activities designed to develop confidence, teamwork and leadership skills.
In addition to their training cadets play an active role in supporting local policing and community initiatives. They regularly participate in weapon sweeps and various community engagement events. Cadets also represent Havering at a variety of ceremonial policing events, both locally and across central London.
This visit provided an excellent opportunity to showcase the commitment, achievements and positive contribution of our cadets to the local community.
Havering Neighbourhood Superintendent Sharon Brind said: “I was incredibly proud to join Havering’s Police Cadets during National Cadet Week and celebrate everything they have achieved over the past year. Their professionalism, enthusiasm and commitment to their community is outstanding.
“From volunteering at events such as the Harold Hill open day to supporting Trading Standards with test purchasing, they are already making a positive contribution to Havering. It is a privilege to see these young people grow in confidence and ability, and to know that some will go on to become the police officers of the future.”
