BREAKING: End of an Era as Time 107.5 Bows Out After 22 Years

Havering’s only truly local commercial radio station, Time 107.5, will broadcast its final show today at 2pm, marking the end of an era in community broadcasting for the borough.

Since its launch in 2003, Time 107.5 has been far more than just another station on the FM dial. It has been one of Havering’s loudest voices – covering the stories, events, and people that mattered most to local residents. From Romford’s Christmas light switch-ons to school fundraisers, charity drives, and urgent community appeals, Time 107.5 was there.

The station championed local causes, including the Give a Child a Christmas appeal, supported grassroots campaigns, highlighted small businesses, and gave airtime to local heroes whose stories would otherwise never have reached the public. It was a constant source of hyper-local news, road closure updates, and even vital safety announcements – the kind of information larger London-wide stations rarely touched.

The community impact was huge. Time 107.5’s presenters became trusted voices in local households, known for their warmth and familiarity. The station worked hand-in-hand with schools, charities, and residents to amplify events and initiatives that brought people together.

But from this afternoon, that local focus will vanish. The station has been bought by Nation Broadcasting and will rebrand as Nation Radio London, shifting its programming to a broader, London-wide audience. While the FM frequency will remain, the uniquely Havering-centred interviews, event coverage, and news bulletins are not expected to continue. This change reflects a wider national trend where small, independent local stations are being swallowed by larger networks.

There is speculation that some of the familiar presenters may return in an online-only capacity, but for now, today’s final broadcast is the end of an important chapter in Havering’s story.

For 22 years, Time 107.5 wasn’t just about Havering – it was part of Havering. As the final song plays out at 2pm, listeners across the borough will be saying goodbye to a station that truly belonged to them.

TIMEFM gone! Complete and utter travesty!
It now sounds like all the rest!
I’m going to miss my favourite Dj’s!
So after all these years, I’ll be switching off!
Where are my favourite DJ’s who played our music, listened to our stories and supported local causes, that I used to sponsor? Like others, I used to call in to update local traffic news or share stories of music legends who cut their teeth at local venues. Is this progress, is it hell??????
    RIP TimeFM

Very sad indeed, how can a successful radio station just disappear like this. Just sums up this country!

Very sad indeed. I can’t distinguish between the new people and Heart, Capital or Magic.
I’m missing Neil A in the mornings already.

Couldn’t believe this when I eventually found out why Neil Andrews was broadcasting this afternoon!
As a family we have listened to Time (then Radio Thamesmead) for the last 24 years. Although we are in Kent and not in Essex the music and friendly DJ’s made it the best station to listen to.
Absolutely gutted, and like another comment said – it now just sounds like all the other stations. 😢
Hopefully we’ll here from the DJ’s soon 🤞🏻

I too was shocked when I asked alexa to play time fm as I did everyday. It still showed time fm 107.5 but sounded so different and bland and was advertising as Nation Broadcasting, SHOCK! I often phoned in for the little quizzes and won tickets to local events. All DJs so good and understood it’s listeners in the local communities of Havering, Barking & Dagenham and Redbridge. What djs kept their jobs? Just heard Mark Dover. RIP Time FM you will be missed so much by these local communities.

What a disappointment. We moved away from a Havering but still listened to Time FM. Loved the quizzes . Tried listening to new station but turned it off after a few minutes.
