EXCLUSIVE: Gallows Corner -Leaked Email Reveals New Delays.
Havering residents are facing yet another setback at Gallows Corner after fresh problems were revealed in an internal email seen by the Havering Daily.
Despite previous assurances that the major junction would reopen by the end of April, it has now emerged that further technical issues have been discovered with the water main — pushing the project into yet another delay.
In an email seen by the Havering Daily, it is confirmed that the works will now extend beyond the end of April, casting serious doubt over when the junction will finally reopen.
The email states:
“Essex & Suffolk Water have encountered technical issues with the strategic water main, which means that the water main works will extend beyond the end of April.”
This latest development will come as no surprise to many residents, who have already endured months of disruption following earlier missed deadlines — including the original completion date of September last year.
The email also reveals that a senior customer services manager is expected to speak with Havering’s Chief Executive today to outline the issues and discuss what this means for the long-awaited reopening.
It adds:
“Further updates will be provided following those meetings.”
While there is some progress, with the email confirming that the flyover itself is now structurally complete, the delays are now being linked directly to ongoing issues involving Essex & Suffolk Water and the strategic water main works.
For residents, however, this will feel like yet another broken promise.
Frustration across Havering has been mounting for months, with many saying they have simply had enough of shifting timelines and uncertainty.
One resident previously told the Havering Daily, “We are beyond fed up. They have done nothing but tell us dates that don’t happen.”
Another added, “It’s an absolute farce. A complete shambles.”
With no confirmed new opening date and fresh problems now emerging, many residents are no longer expecting a quick resolution — and are instead bracing for further disruption.
