“Absolute Joke” – Gallows Corner Fury Could The April Deadline Be Missed?
Should Transport for London be fined?
Residents across Havering are furious as yet another promised reopening date for Gallows Corner appears to be slipping with many now calling the situation a “complete shambles”.
Gallows Corner was meant to reopen by the end of April. But with just days left and the site still looking nowhere near complete, locals say they have lost all faith.
This is not the first missed deadline. The original completion date was set for September last year — a target that came and went. April was supposed to be the reset. Now, it’s looking like history is repeating itself.
The Havering Daily visited the area yesterday and spoke to locals about their views.
One local told the Havering Daily, “It’s an absolute joke. They have had very little disregard for residents and the impact they are making locally.”
Another said, “If I did this in my job, kept cancelling deadlines of such importance, I would have been fired by now.”
Frustration is now boiling over across the borough, with many saying the ongoing delays are having a serious knock-on effect on daily life.
“This is having a huge impact on all our communities and they do not really care. It’s shocking actually,” another resident said.
Others say they never believed the April deadline would be met in the first place.
“We are beyond fed up. They have done nothing but tell us dates that don’t happen. No one believed this would be ready by April and here we are.”
Anger is now turning into action. A petition has been launched calling for Transport for London to be held accountable for the repeated delays, with some residents even questioning why penalties are not being issued.
One resident said, “Why are they not fined? If drivers break the rules they are fined, so why aren’t they being fined for delayed deadlines?”
Another added, “We have all had enough of this. It’s an absolute farce. A complete shambles by all.”
With confidence in the project at an all-time low, many residents are no longer expecting the junction to reopen any time soon. Instead, they are bracing for yet another delay and demanding answers.
