Dagenham and Rainham MP highlights the dangers of carbon monoxide during gas safety week.

Margaret Mullane, Dagenham and Rainham Labour MP, has been contacted by Centrica and British Gas to promote gas safety in the constituency.

This week is Gas Safety Week, where the dangers of carbon monoxide and gas safety measures are highlighted.

Margaret told the Havering Daily:“This Gas Safety Week, I have teamed up with BritishGas to remind you to ensure that your gas appliances are being checked annually by a Gas Safe registered engineer. Unchecked gas appliances may increase the risk of CO poisoning, gas leaks and fires.”

To recognise the vital role that taking simple gas safety measures can make towards safety, Centrica have offered 20 free carbon monoxide alarms which can be distributed to local businesses or charities. Margaret confirmed that she will be taking up the offer for the benefit of the local community.

Margaret added: “Local businesses and charities can contact my office if they are interested in one of the 20 free carbon monoxide detectors”.
