Harold Hill mum’s desperate plea for politicians to intervene and stop this explosion of knife crime on our streets.

“Ultimately we are all human beings regardless if we are black or white and what is happening on our streets and in our homes is impacting all our society,” says Peguy Kato. ‘I’m so very tired of watching and hearing about our children being murdered on the streets, and now we have armed robbers entering our homes as well. This is not acceptable and those who are supposed to be doing something about this are not.”

Sadly Peguy is no stranger to heart break having watched her first born son Champion Ghanda lose his life at the age of just 17 years old. Champion was just a teenager like many others out with his friend when he was brutally stabbed in Newham. Like most parents who have lost their children to knife crime, Peguy then had to watch the horrific CCTV footage of Champion’s last moments alive in court. A trauma that lives with her forever.

A mother who is not only desperate to stop these horrors from taking place, but also tired of witnessing our society gradually spiralling out of control and no one stepping in to solve it.

“We see politicians talking away, but not one mention of violent crime on our streets or funding the police force as they should be. We have all read about the murder of a 9 year old girl in Liverpool shot dead in her home. Nine years old, where is the outrage over this?

“Last week an 87 year old man, the week before a 15 year old boy, the public are horrified yet our politicians are not taking any notice.

“We need police officers to do their jobs and to be funded properly to do their jobs. We need our streets to be safe and they are not.”

Peguy is an active voice in the anti knife crime world and prays everyday that no other family will have to experience what she has been through.

“It really does not matter what colour you are, ultimately we are all human and it is only by standing united against this nightmare that we can beat it.

“I ask people to please support each other against violent crime and unite as communities to stop these horrors.

“Too many people have lost their life now, we must do something. Parents like me are tired of seeing other families go through what my family does everyday. Nothing in this world will ever take away the pain we feel losing Champion.

“Our world broke and fell to pieces and when we watch more children die on our streets, we re live it all over again.

“It has to stop now, we beg people to come together and unite against knife crime.”
