Havering Daily poll: Is overdevelopment a threat to Havering?
The Havering Daily is today running a poll to ask the community if they feel that over development is a threat to our borough. Are you happy with the number of houses and flats going up across Havering or do you feel we need to stop building and preserve our borough the way it is?

We are already one of the most populated boroughs in Greater London, and increasing the development will force more and more people into the transport network. There seems to be little or no development in the West or North of London, it all seems to be centred in the East. Our roads are jammed for most of the day, our public transport ( in non covid/ normal times) is packed and the infrastructure of schools, doctors, policing and council services are already groaning under the strain. Our greens spaces are being built over or are under threat and the new developments seem to be building the slums of the future. Some of the estates are so densely built that sunlight struggles to permeate between the buildings. It has to slow down to safeguard existing residents quality of life.

Over development would be a threat however development to meet the needs of havering residents is very necessary
The infrastructure is not sufficient for all these houses. Also green spaces are beneficial to the health and well being of the community
