The Bear Shack- a new outside bar opens.
The Romford MP Andrew Rosindell officially opened the new outdoor bar at the Deer’s Rest in Noak Hill on Friday afternoon.
The Bear Shack as it is called, a tribute to the pub’s previous name, The Bear, has proven to be a huge success with locals who have packed the pub all weekend.
Retail Manager Russell Crosby told the Havering Daily: “It was nice of Andrew to come and officially open the outdoor bar for us. I spoke with him during lockdown and he shared the fond memories he has of coming to the pub when he was younger, so it was fitting for him to open it.”
It was Russell’s idea to have the outside bar that was fully supported by the brewery. He added: “It has been very popular with community and it will be nice at Christmas to have this here as well.”
Mr Rosindell told the Havering Daily: “It was a great honour to open the outdoor bar at the Deer’s Rest appropriately called the Bear Shack. I used to attend this pub as a child and have fond memories of it. It’s great to return and see it doing so well. Well done to Russell who runs a great local pub.”
Councillor Jan Sargent who was also at the opening, told the Havering Daily: “It’s amazing what Russell has done with the Deer’s Rest pub, he has really turned it around. It now has a real ‘feel good’ environment for all the family to enjoy and this outside bar is a brilliant addition to it.
“Russell is real community man who goes out of his way to ensure that he serves the community the best way he can.”
