A seventy five year old lady from Harold Hill has written a poignant letter to Havering’s leader of the council, where she openly states she was sending the letter with ‘sadness, disillusionment, disgust and outrage.’
The two page letter written from the heart comes from Eileen who has lived in Harold Hill since 1952 and now feels ‘utterly let down’ by the politicians in the town hall and their treatment of the borough and its local residents.
Eileen exclusively told the Havering Daily, ‘I didn’t even start the letter with Dear Councillor White, I started it with Mr White as I am so outraged by the way he is treating residents in our borough.‘
It begins with ‘This letter is sent with sadness, disillusionment, disgust and outrage at the utter disrespect and contempt that your administration shows for the residents of this borough.’
Eileen then goes on to write ‘You seem to forget that you are public servants elected to serve the people of this borough who gave you the privilege and their trust to look after their welfare, environment and the future of their children.
‘I am seventy five years old and I have lived in this borough since I was seven years old and never have I seen such an incompetent lot within our town hall. Yes Mr White our town hall not yours. Yours is a position thanks to the courtesy of this borough’s resident’s.
‘It would appear all you lot do is feed your own ego while the borough’s services, amenities goes to the dogs. For example social services, mental health and social housing.
‘Parks in Havering received a million pounds six years ago to renovate and upgrade them for the use of the public. I use Raphael’s park most days and I am sadly am watching it deteriorate due to the lack of gardeners.
‘I wonder are you planning to steal our parks to build more houses or putting it up for privatisation?
‘It would seem that building houses is your thing. Ordinarily that would be great, but you don’t look after the existing residents. You are stealing every little piece of green space to build even more houses. For whom may I ask? Because the youngsters in our borough haven’t got a hope of getting onto the housing list. They are being forced out of the borough away from family and support.
‘Do you ever go out into this borough and speak to the ordinary everyday families? Families whose pockets you put your hand in at every opportunity i.e. parking charges. Not everyone has a privileged background.’
The seventy five year old is saddened at how Havering is changing and what she calls the ‘destruction’ of communities.’ She hopes her letter will have an impact now.
The Havering Daily has created some new facebook groups, where we will share our up-to-date stories happening in the borough.
