The Sun Is Shining On Brookside Theatre As Annie Opens In Romford
The much-loved family musical runs from 21 to 25 October, bringing songs including Tomorrow and It’s the Hard-Knock Life to the local stage.
The excitement is building at Brookside Theatre, Romford, as the curtain prepares to rise on the opening performance of the much-loved musical Annie on Wednesday 21 October.
Running until Sunday 25 October 2026, the production promises a theatrical treat for the family, packed with unforgettable songs, lovable characters, laughter and plenty of feel-good moments.
Set in 1930s New York, Annie tells the story of a brave young orphan whose determination and optimism shine through even the toughest of times. Life at Miss Hannigan’s orphanage is far from easy, but Annie’s fortunes take a remarkable turn when she is chosen to spend Christmas with billionaire Oliver Warbucks. Yet, as Annie dreams of finding her true family, scheming Miss Hannigan has plans of her own!
Featuring the Tony award-winning book and score, the musical includes some of the most recognisable songs in musical theatre, including It’s the Hard-Knock Life, Easy Street, I Don’t Need Anything But You and, of course, the timeless anthem Tomorrow.
The Brookside Theatre team is looking forward to sharing the magic of live theatre with the local community. In its press release, the theatre said:
“There’s something incredibly special about bringing a show like ANNIE to life, with its wonderful music, uplifting story and message of hope. The whole team has worked incredibly hard to make this a production audiences will remember, and we can’t wait for everyone to experience it.”
The theatre says tickets are selling fast and is encouraging audiences to book ahead.
Performances take place at 7.30pm from Wednesday to Saturday, with 2pm matinees on Saturday and Sunday. The running time is approximately two hours and 20 minutes, including a 20-minute interval.
Brookside Theatre is at 21a Eastern Road, Romford, RM1 3NH. The show has an age advisory of six and over, and under-16s must be accompanied by an adult.
