Former Havering Teacher Found Guilty Of Rape After Four Day Crown Court Trial
A former Havering teacher has been found guilty of arranging or facilitating the rape of a child under 13 following a four day trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court.
Paul Whiteman was arrested on 5 September 2024.
On 24 January 2025, he was charged with ten offences.
The charges included five counts of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, making Category A indecent images of children, making Category B indecent images of children, making Category C indecent images of children, publishing an obscene article and arranging or facilitating the commission of a child sex offence involving the rape of a child under 13.
Whiteman pleaded guilty to the nine offences listed above, with the exception of the charge relating to arranging or facilitating the rape of a child under 13.
That allegation was subsequently contested at trial.
Following a four day trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court, Whiteman was found guilty of the remaining offence on 1 October 2026.
The case had been listed at Snaresbrook Crown Court under case reference 01MP1204624, with hearings taking place between 28 September and 1 October 2026.
The conviction means that Whiteman has now been convicted of all ten offences for which he was charged, with nine resulting from guilty pleas and the remaining offence following a jury trial.
The Havering Daily understands that Whiteman had previously worked as a teacher in the Havering area.
He is due to return to Snaresbrook Crown Court on 27 November 2026 for sentencing.
