“Flash Bang, What A Picture” Havering Museum Photographic Exhibition And Sponsorship.

Pictures tell a story and capture memories of people and places, and Havering Museum’s annual Photographic Exhibition certainly does this. Their exhibition of 50 photographs of portraits, landscapes and animals and a video with 120 photos, runs from 26 September to 19 December 2016.  In addition, there is a range of vintage camera to reminisce about.

The Museum’s photographic group started with just a six week Fun with Photography course and ended up as the museum’s monthly photographic group, for 14 years.  This is a community group of talented and fun-loving photographers who share their creativity and create a sense of fun and enrich each other’s lives.

This year the Essex Freemasons discovered this group and all the excellent work the volunteers at HaveringMuseum do and decided to sponsor the group and Museum.

The exhibition was opened by Elliott Chevin, Assistant Provincial Grand Master of Essex Freemasons, who commented on the importance of community, which the Museum and the Freemasons focus on.

Elliott Chevin, said “Supporting organisations at the heart of their communities is an important part of what we do as Freemasons.

Essex Freemasons are proud to support Havering Museum and the Photographic Group, both of which play an important role in bringing people together, celebrating the history and character of the local area, and providing opportunities for people of all ages to learn, participate and enjoy.

Peter Owen, the creator and facilitator of the monthly group said:

“Not only does the Museum, but alsothe Photographic Group, feel very proud that the creativity of the group, their wonderful photographs and the commitment of the volunteers, attracted the attention and support of the Essex Freemasons.  Community is at the heart of the Museumand the fact that this has been recognised is great.”

The photographic group meet on the first Thursday every month, from 13:30 – 15:30 (£7). Havering Museum is located at 19-21 High Street, Romford, RM1 1JU and is open Wednesday to Friday, 11:00 16:30 and Saturday’s when an event is scheduled.  Always check the exhibition access times before visiting the museum.
