‘Twice in two nights’: Fury as South Street homes targeted in shocking overnight paint attacks as former councillor calls on urgent police action.
South Street residents have been left shocked and frightened after homes and cars were targeted in two separate overnight attacks, with black and red paint sprayed over properties in the early hours of the morning. Former St Alban’s ward councillor Jane Keane has now demanded urgent action, asking what the Metropolitan Police and Havering Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership will do to protect residents and prevent further attacks.
On behalf of South Street residents, former Labour Councillor Jane Keane has expressed anger and frustration following attacks on South Street residents’ property – their homes and cars.
Over two nights, in the early hours of the morning, two individuals have been seen on camera defacing homes and cars; with black paint on 22/9/2026 approximately at 4am, and then on 23/9/2026 one of the same homes was extensively covered in red paint at 4.20am.
Jane has demanded an explanation of what immediate action will be taken by the Metropolitan Police and local Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership and whether patrols in the area can be stepped up over night.
Jane told the Havering Daily: ” I feel so sorry for the residents. The indiscriminate criminal damage of their homes and cars is nasty. They are distraught and very concerned about further attacks I am angry because these appear to be copycat crimes. That being the case I want to know what pan London action is being taken to detect and apprehend the culprits. It certainly cannot be treated as business as usual by the local Police and Havering Crime Reduction Partnership because it’s not usual.”
