Youth Unity Expands Free Youth Spaces And Mentoring Support Across Havering.
Youth Unity CIC is continuing to expand its work across Havering, providing free youth spaces, outreach and mentoring support designed to give young people positive activities, trusted adults and accessible support within their local communities.
The organisation is currently delivering regular sessions across Romford and Harold Hill, combining centre-based youth provision with mobile and detached outreach to reach young people where they already spend their time.
Current provision includes:
- Romford South Street – Tuesdays, 3.30pm–6pm: Youth Unity’s mobile media van and detached youth team providing activities, engagement, and support directly in Romford town centre, outside Santander
- MyPlace, Harold Hill – Thursdays, 4pm–6pm: A free youth club offering activities including sport, music, podcasting and opportunities to socialise in a positive environment.
- The Battis, Romford – Thursdays and Fridays, 3.30pm–6pm: A dedicated youth space offering a range of activities and access to Youth Unity’s experienced youth workers.
Activities across the programme include music and DJing, sports, boxing, podcasting, gaming, chess and creative activities, alongside informal support, and opportunities for young people to talk to trusted youth workers.
Youth Unity also provides 1:1 mentoring for young people aged 14–25, with support tailored to individual needs. This can include building confidence and self-esteem, improving school engagement and attendance, addressing behavioural challenges and wellbeing, and helping older young people progress towards education, training, or employment.
Shirley Jackson, Managing Director of Youth Unity CIC, said:
“Our aim is to make sure young people across Havering know there are positive places they can go and people they can turn to. Sometimes that might mean coming along for sport, music or just somewhere to spend time with friends, while for others it may lead to more targeted mentoring and support.
“We want to work closely with schools, parents, professionals and community organisations so that young people hear about these opportunities and can access support as early as possible.”
Youth Unity is encouraging schools, colleges, community organisations and local partners to share information about the services through parent newsletters, social media, websites, and other community networks.
The organisation is particularly keen to reach families who may not already be aware of the free youth provision available across the borough.
