Beam Park Councillor Welcomes New Initiative And Its Potential For The Local Area.
“Ideas exist everywhere, but opportunity does not.”
Beam Park Councillor Matt Stanton has welcomed the launch of the Thames Estuary Regional Innovation & Enterprise District (RIED), a new initiative aimed at supporting start-ups in high-potential sectors including green technology, advanced manufacturing, and logistics.

Speaking at the official launch event held at the CEME Campus on Marsh Way on 15th September, Councillor Stanton praised the initiative, led by CEME and its partners, as an important catalyst for economic growth and regeneration across the area.
The new district aims to bring together businesses, universities, investors, and local authorities to drive sustainable growth in clean energy, digital infrastructure, future mobility, and health technology.
Matt Stanton, Councillor for Beam Park, said:
“The launch of the Regional Innovation & Enterprise District represents a real opportunity for our community.”
“Anyone can have an idea. I don’t think it’s overselling it to say that almost everyone will have a genuinely good and original idea at some point in their life. The challenge is that too many people never get the chance to test those ideas because they lack access to the skills, support, networks, and investment needed to turn them into reality.”
“What excites me most is what this could mean for local residents: high-quality jobs, specialised training opportunities, and a cleaner, greener economy. With organisations such as CEME, Thames Freeport, and London Riverside BID working together, there is growing recognition of the untapped potential within Beam Park and the wider area.”
A key feature of the initiative is the Community Innovation Hub, which opens later this month. The hub will provide dedicated space for local entrepreneurs, start-ups, and small businesses to develop new ideas, access funding, and grow their operations.
Councillor Stanton added:
“Innovation should not be something that only happens behind closed doors at big companies It needs to belong to our community. The Community Innovation Hub will ensure that local entrepreneurs, inventors, and creators have direct access to the high-quality resources, mentoring, and support they need to turn good ideas into successful businesses.”
The Thames Estuary RIED will continue rolling out collaborative programmes over the coming months, with operations anchored at CEME’s innovation campus in Rainham.
