Breaking: Five Arrested Within 15 Minutes After Brazen Raid on Hornchurch Boots.
Five suspected thieves were arrested within 15 minutes of a brazen robbery at Boots in Hornchurch after officers from the Havering Joint Task Force quickly tracked down and stopped the suspects’ vehicle.
The arrests were made by the Havering Joint Task Force, led by Sergeant Tanner, following the incident at the Boots store on Hornchurch High Street on Wednesday 22 July, just after 1pm.
The suspects’ vehicle was intercepted on Southend Road, where officers arrested three men, aged 37 and two aged 46, and two women, aged 32 and 41.
Police also recovered the stolen goods, believed to be worth just under £10,000, with all of the perfume returned to the Boots store.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said:
“On Wednesday, 22 July at around 16:15hrs, police were called to reports of an ongoing commercial robbery at Boots on Hornchurch High Street.
“Officers attended within minutes and managed the scene. The suspects had already left the location and got away in a vehicle.
“Police conducted an area search, identifying and intercepting the vehicle in Southend Road less than 30 minutes later.
“Three men, one aged 37 and two aged 46, and two women, aged 32 and 41, were arrested for commercial robbery and remain in custody. All stolen items believed to be valued just under £10,000 were returned to the store.
“There were no reported injuries to staff or members of the public. Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting CAD 5481/22JUL26.”
All five suspects remain in police custody while enquiries continue.
The swift response by officers has been praised by members of the community, with the Havering Joint Task Force receiving recognition for quickly locating the suspects and recovering the stolen property.
Well done to Sergeant Tanner and the Havering Joint Task Force for their rapid response, which led to the arrests and the recovery of thousands of pounds worth of stolen goods in less than half an hour.
