Hornchurch High School Community Day Draws More Than 700 Visitors As Tennis Takes Centre Stage
Hornchurch High School’s Community Day on Saturday 20 June proved a huge success, attracting more than 700 pupils, families and friends for a fantastic celebration of school and community life.

Blessed with glorious summer sunshine, the event brought the school grounds to life with a packed programme of entertainment, activities, stalls and family fun, with tennis proving one of the day’s standout attractions.
A key feature of the event was the tennis provision delivered by JW Tennis Academy, the coaching provider of choice for Hylands Tennis. Visitors were invited to take part in free “come and try” tennis sessions, giving children and families the opportunity to pick up a racket, learn new skills and enjoy the sport in a fun and relaxed environment.
The wider programme featured food vendors, family activities, stalls and school performances, creating a vibrant atmosphere throughout the day and showcasing the school at the heart of its community.
Giorgio Federico Bugnatelli, Secretary to the Trustees at Hylands Tennis Club, said:
‘We have been proud to be the tennis partner at Hornchurch High School since 2013 and we continue to witness the ongoing improvements at the school. The Open Days are a fantastic opportunity to engage with the local community and display the magnificent facilities at the school.’
Serena Madhvani, Head Teacher, said:
‘Hornchurch High School’s inaugural Family Fun Day proved a resounding success, attracting more than 700 family members and friends who came together to enjoy a vibrant programme of stalls, activities and entertainment in the sunshine.’
David Norris, Assistant Headteacher (Enrichment and Leadership), added:
‘Our School Community Day was a wonderful success, creating a fantastic family atmosphere for everyone who attended. It was great to see so many members of the local community coming together, having fun and making the most of the lovely weather. A big thank you to all the staff, students and volunteers whose hard work and dedication helped make the day such a memorable and successful event.’
Hylands Tennis has worked alongside Hornchurch High School for many years, helping to create opportunities for young people and families to get involved in tennis and enjoy the sport in a welcoming community environment.
The success of the Community Day highlights the strength of that partnership and the school’s ongoing commitment to opening its facilities and bringing the community together through sport, education and family events.
For everyone who attended, it was a day full of sunshine, smiles and community spirit.
