NewTwo Teenagers Praised After Helping Elderly Woman Following Mobility Scooter Fall.

In a world where young people are often criticised for anti-social behaviour, two Year 9 students from Sanders Drapers School have shown exactly why today’s generation deserves recognition when they get it right.

The pair have been praised for their kindness and compassion after helping an elderly woman who had fallen from her mobility scooter in Hornchurch.

The incident was witnessed by a member of the public who was so impressed by the teenagers’ actions that they contacted the school to ensure their good deed was recognised.

The witness said:

“Yesterday an elderly lady had fallen out of her mobility scooter on the other side of the road and, before anyone else could react, two Sanders Drapers students ran over to help her, along with a cab driver who had pulled over.”

“They were kind, caring and clearly concerned for her welfare, helping her back into her wheelchair and making sure she was okay.”

But the two girls didn’t stop there.

After helping the woman, they made sure she got home safely, demonstrating a level of care and maturity beyond their years.

The witness continued:

“It was genuinely heartwarming to see. Young people often get criticised, so I think it’s important that moments like this are recognised too.”

“These two students showed real compassion and maturity, and they should be very proud of themselves.”

Far too often, headlines focus on the negative actions of a small minority of young people. Yet stories such as this remind us that there are many teenagers quietly making a positive difference in their communities every day.

The actions of these two Year 9 students were a shining example of community spirit, kindness and respect for others.

Their quick thinking, willingness to help and genuine concern for a vulnerable member of the community deserve to be celebrated.

The witness concluded:

“I simply wanted to let you know what a positive impression they made and to thank them for their kindness.”

The Havering Daily would like to join in recognising these two young people for their outstanding actions.

At a time when young people are often unfairly criticised, these students have shown the very best of Havering’s next generation.

A credit to themselves, their families, their school and the wider community.
