Kaleidoscope Brings Pride Back To Romford For Third Year Running
Pride in Romford is set to return this June as Kaleidoscope once again transforms The Mercury Shopping Centre into a vibrant celebration of LGBTQ+ creativity, identity and community.
Taking place on Saturday 6 June from 11am to 4pm, the free event will span all three floors of the Mercury Shopping Centre with a packed programme of activities, games, art, film and community events for all ages.
Now in its third year, Pride in Romford continues to grow in popularity and aims to provide an inclusive and welcoming space for everyone across Havering and beyond.
Level 1 – LGBTQ+ Craft Market And Creative Workshops
Visitors can explore a colourful craft market featuring local LGBTQ+ creatives and artists, alongside a special zine-making workshop hosted by illustrator and facilitator Katie in Colour.
Katie, who is based in Basildon, uses multimedia techniques to create vibrant illustrations full of personality and character.
Stalls on the day will include:
- artwork by koeggki,
- prints, stickers and portraits by Robin Whalley,
- hand-drawn creations by Wanderlustwarren,
- and many more local independent artists and makers.
Level 2 – Rainbow Gaming Fun
Head upstairs to Level 2 where inclusive gaming community Dicing With Life will be hosting rainbow-themed games and activities.
With hundreds of games available, the group offers a welcoming environment where visitors can socialise, play and connect with others.
Level 3 – Identity, Art And Film
On Level 3, Well Social by Daniel’s View will invite visitors to express their identity through a unique interactive art installation.
Participants will be able to imprint everyday objects that represent who they are, with the items then transformed into plaster casts and displayed during LGBTQ+ Pride Month.
Also on Level 3, Lumiere Cinema will be screening a full day of mystery LGBTQ+ films.
Tickets cost just £10 for the entire day, with all proceeds helping fund Pride in Romford 2027.
Building Pride For The Future
Kaleidoscope is also inviting local people to help shape future Pride events in Romford.
Organisers are currently looking for dedicated volunteers and community members interested in helping organise Pride in Romford for 2027.
