Driving Economic Growth: The Financial Benefits of the East Havering Data Centre Campus
Cllr Graham Williamson, Cabinet Member for Development and Regeneration, has set out how the proposed East Havering Data Centre Campus could play a key role in driving economic growth across the borough, highlighting the potential for jobs, investment and long-term financial benefits for local residents and businesses.
Havering Council is committed to creating opportunities that strengthen our local economy and improve prosperity for residents. The proposed East Havering Data Centre Campus and Ecology Park could deliver significant financial benefits, supporting jobs, investment, and long-term growth.
Key Economic Opportunities include:
- Job Creation: The development could generate employment during construction and ongoing operational roles, offering opportunities for local people across a range of skills and sectors.
- Boosting Local Businesses: The project will create supply chain opportunities for SMEs in Havering, from construction services to technology support.
- Inward Investment: By attracting global technology partners, the scheme will position Havering as a destination for innovation, bringing new business activity and increased business rates revenue to the borough.
For our borough, I believe this project is more than a single development – it could be a catalyst for economic resilience and opportunity. By combining cutting-edge technology with sustainable design, the scheme supports Havering’s ambition to be a leader in digital infrastructure and green energy growth.
The financial benefit of this project has the potential to ripple across Havering, creating further jobs, supporting businesses, and attracting investment.
