Hornchurch bereaved mum joins women against violence walk.

Sue Hedges who lost her son Ricky Hayden to knife crime in 2016, joined the ‘women against violence walk’ in Ilford on Sunday August 28.

The walk was organised by campaigners in memory of Zara Aleena who was brutally murdered on Cranbrook Road on Sunday June 26 as she walked home.

Zara’s murder once again called for women to unite against violence that sees many women killed on our streets.

Sue walked in memory of another murdered woman, Ashley Wadsworth who was murdered earlier this year in Chelmsford.

She told the Havering Daily:

“Violence against women must stop. We have the right like everyone else to walk home without being murdered.

“It is important that we remember all the women who have lost their life on our streets just walking home.

“I have walked in memory of Ashley who was a student from Canada who sadly lost her life in Chelmsford.”

The walk began at Ilford Town Hall and then moved to Cranbrook Road where Zara sadly lost her life.

Sue Hedges walked in memory of Ashley Wadsworth and to support all women against violence.
