Appeal for witnesses after gang of men beat couple at Upminster station.
Officers are appealing for witnesses after a man and woman were assaulted at Upminster station.
At just before 7.30pm on Monday 29 March, the victims, a man and a woman, were travelling on-board a District line Tube when three men boarded the service at Upminster Bridge station.
One of the men was heard on the phone threatening to “wet up” the male victim and told the person on the other end of the phone to come to Upminster station.
The victims and the three men all got off the Tube at Upminster station before the three men started attacking the victims.
Five more men arrived at Upminster station and joined in the attack, repeatedly punching and kicking the male victim as he lay on the floor.
All eight men then walked back down to the platform and left the station on a westbound District line Tube service.
The male victim suffered a broken cheek bone and rib as a result of the attack.
One man has been arrested in connection to date.
Officers are keen to hear from anyone who was on-board the service or at Upminster station at the time and may have witnessed the incident.
