CORRECTION AND APOLOGY: Paul Whiteman Court Report
The Havering Daily has withdrawn an article published on 7 October 2026 after identifying an inaccurate headline concerning Paul Whiteman’s conviction at Snaresbrook Crown Court.
On 7 October 2026, The Havering Daily published an article concerning the conviction of Paul Whiteman at Snaresbrook Crown Court. We acknowledge that the headline incorrectly stated that Mr Whiteman had been found guilty of rape.
Mr Whiteman was not convicted of rape.
Following a four-day trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court, which concluded on 1 October 2026, he was found guilty of arranging or facilitating the commission of a child sex offence, namely rape of a child under 13.
This is a separate criminal offence from rape itself. Our original headline did not accurately reflect the offence for which he was convicted and could have led readers to believe that he had been convicted of personally committing rape.
The Havering Daily has withdrawn the original article.
We acknowledge the seriousness of the error and sincerely apologise to Mr Whiteman for the inaccurate headline and for any distress or misunderstanding it may have caused.
We recognise our responsibility to report court proceedings accurately and remain committed to correcting errors promptly and transparently.
