COUNCIL NEWS: Havering approves new tenant strategy to ensure resident participation.
Havering Council has adopted The Housing Tenant Engagement Strategy 2026-2029.
Cabinet approved the new strategy on Wednesday 16 September 2026 which sets out how residents’ views, experiences and priorities will be reflected in the design, delivery and improvement of housing services.
The strategy also supports compliance with the Regulator of Social Housing’s Consumer Standards, particularly requirements relating to transparency and resident influence.
The aims of the new strategy
Working closer with residents to ensure their participation in consultations and the decision-making process.
Collaborating with partner organisations and exploring opportunities to use data more effectively, pool resources, maximise social value, improve outcomes, and extend engagement to residents.
Introducing north and south resident panels to provide ongoing feedback and influence service improvements.
Continuing to deliver effective resident events, roadshows, and community engagement activities that encourage participation, strengthen relationships with residents, develop employment and skills, and engage our youth and elderly residents.
Ensuring meaningful consultation and engagement takes place throughout the planning and delivery of major regeneration projects and housing schemes.
Keeping residents informed and actively engaged throughout the development and construction of new housing projects, ensuring clear communication and opportunities for feedback.
