‘STOP DUMPING YOUR RUBBISH!’ HORNCHURCH RESIDENTS ERUPT OVER CLOTHES BANK ‘EYESORE’
Hornchurch residents have hit back at people who are turning a local clothes bank into an eyesore by leaving bags of unwanted clothing scattered across the pavement.
Residents living near Burnway say they are once again fed up with the clothes bank being treated as a dumping ground, with people apparently choosing to leave bin liners packed with old clothes on the floor rather than using the facility properly.
Instead of opening the clothes bank and placing donations inside, residents say some people are simply dumping bags beside it and walking away, leaving a growing mess for everyone else to see.
The issue has sparked frustration among local residents who say they should not have to put up with other people’s laziness turning their neighbourhood into an untidy dumping ground.
Residents have a simple message for anyone wanting to donate unwanted clothing: if you are donating clothes, please use the clothes bank correctly and put your items inside.
Do not leave bags on the floor.
Residents say the clothes bank is there to make it easier for people to donate unwanted clothing, but when bags are simply dumped around it, the area is left looking untidy and residents are left dealing with the consequences.
One resident’s message sums up the growing frustration: “Stop dumping your rubbish everywhere.”
If you are donating clothes, take the extra few seconds to use the facility properly. It is a small action that can make a big difference to the appearance of the area.
