Julia Lopez MP Re-selected as Conservative Candidate for Hornchurch And Upminster.
News from Havering Conservatives.
Julia Lopez MP has been re-selected as the Conservative candidate for Hornchurch & Upminster, securing the opportunity to continue representing the constituency she has proudly served since first being elected in 2017.
Julia has built a strong record for standing up for local people. Since becoming MP, she has:
- Secured the new £17 million St George’s Health Hub which is delivering over 30,000 more appointments a year.
- Ensured Sadiq Khan sale of Hornchurch Police Station has not gone ahead – securing 254 extra police officers in Havering
- Ensured that no illegal immigrants are housed in the Palm Hotel or in Hornchurch and Upminster Constituency
- Secured £57 million for the Gallows Corner Repairs and has repeatedly called out TfL’s failings, campaigning for transparency and compensation
Speaking following her re-selection, Julia said:
“It was a tremendous honour to be re-selected as the Conservative candidate for Hornchurch & Upminster at our Association’s AGM, held in the beautiful setting of Upminster Windmill.
I am grateful to local members for placing their trust in me once again, and to everyone who has campaigned, contributed and organised events over the past year. Our local Conservative family is a welcoming and committed team, united by a determination to secure the best for the community we serve.
I am proud of what we have achieved together since 2017 but there is always much more to do. I will continue working hard for residents, standing up for our town centres and championing the aspirational values, enterprise, pride in nation and community spirit that make Hornchurch & Upminster constituency such a special place.”
Julia will now continue campaigning locally and working with residents on the issues that matter most to the constituency.
Chairman of the Hornchurch and Upminster Conservatives, Adam Baker said,
“We are delighted to have Julia Lopez as our candidate and MP. She has achieved more than other MPs have in the borough and in half of the time!
We are united in bringing about a strong Conservative Plan for Britain. We will:
- Abolish business rates for hospitality, retail, and leisure – this will help over 300 businesses across Hornchurch and Upminster
- Scrap Stamp Duty – that will save £7,250 on the average home in Hornchurch and Upminster
- Carry out our Cheap Power Plan to save households £200 by axing the Carbon Tax, green subsidies, and VAT, which could save Havering £54 million each year.
- Stop the boats for once and for all with our BORDERS plan, leaving the ECHR and deporting foreign criminals
- Take back our streets from criminals with 10,000 more police, greater stop and search, and proper community policing
- Back the risk takers and wealth makers, by cutting red tape, backing British manufacturing and power an economic revolution in the City of London
This is all possible with our golden economic rule which commits to half of all the billions of pounds in savings found to reduce Labour’s deficit. Together, the Conservatives will get Britain working again, and we hope Julia will be leading on that.”

I would find it difficult to vote for Ms Lopez as the core principles of the Conservative Party are largely at odds with my own personal values, but one thing that cannot be denied is that she has been a good local constituency MP. Unlike her former Conservative colleague in the other Havering constituency, she has fought on issues that affect her constituents, such as Queen’s Hospital and Gallows Corner, rather than obsessing herself with flags, how often the BBC play the national anthem and whether Havering is in London or Essex. She does not embarrass the town whenever she opens her mouth in public – unlike her former colleague….
