‘KEEP DANGEROUS CRIMINALS LOCKED UP’: Romford MP’s Blunt Message On Early Release.

‘This is a betrayal of victims’-Andrew Rosindell MP Attacks Early Release System

“Britain is lawless. Under successive Labour and Conservative governments – the uniparty that has failed this country for far too long – when a judge hands down a prison sentence, the criminal all too often serves only a fraction of it. That is a betrayal of victims, a slap in the face to our hard-working police officers, and an insult to the decent, law-abiding people of Romford and every community across our United Kingdom.

Labour’s Justice Secretary released 70,000 criminals in short order. Now we see further soft-on-crime changes that will see even more dangerous offenders out early – some after serving as little as a third of their sentence. Criminals given short sentences under 12 months may never see the inside of a cell at all. Suspended sentences are handed out left, right and centre. Two of those responsible for the horrific killing of PC Harper are set to become eligible for early release. His widow has rightly called for the Government to “come to their senses.” They will not.

Reform will reverse this absurdity. We will ensure that those convicted of murder, serious violent crimes, rape, child abuse, manslaughter and other grave offences serve every single day of the sentence the court imposed. No early release. No licence after a third or a half. The full term behind bars.

Foreign national offenders will no longer clog up British prisons at vast expense to the taxpayer. Under a Reform Government they will be transferred to serve their sentences abroad -in third countries where places can be rented far more cheaply – or deported. That alone frees up around 10,000 spaces. We will rapidly construct approximately 12,000 Nightingale-style prison places on Ministry of Defence land within 18 months, using modular construction and military assistance where needed. Together these measures deliver the capacity required so that early release schemes become a thing of the past.

We will reinstate short prison sentences for theft, shoplifting and other offences that Labour has effectively tried to decriminalise. We will stop the presumption of suspended sentences for terms under 12 months. And we will end the farce of automatic early release after 33% or 40% of a sentence.

My constituents in Romford are proud, hard-working people who simply want to feel safe in their own town. They are tired of seeing criminals celebrate their early release with parties at the prison gates, only to reoffend. They are tired of two-tier justice and of governments that talk tough while acting soft. Reform UK is the only party prepared to take the radical action required: put British people first, keep dangerous criminals locked up, and restore proper respect for the rule of law.

Britain is lawless. Britain needs Reform. And under a Reform Government, criminals will serve their time – the whole of it – behind bars.

Could we possibly get a view on this from someone who was a member of the ‘uniparty’ government that caused this crisis by closing prisons without replacing them, closing courts without replacing them, got rid of approx 20,000 police officers and slashed bodies like the probation services to the bone ?
Oh, hang on….we just have 🙄

Well done, Mr R, another fine example of reform rhetoric jumping on the bandwagon of distraction techniques and running down this country. If you have taken your position as an MP more seriously, maybe you would’ve persuaded previous government that you were part of as an MP to have tackle this issue seriously. But now all you can do is criticise and put forward highly contentious and ill thought out propaganda. I think you should go for re-election after all you’re following in your Master footsteps Mirage Farage
