Eight Fire Engines Tackle Grass Fire Near Oak Road In Romford
Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters are currently tackling a grass fire near Oak Road in Romford.
The blaze is believed to be in a farmer’s field, with thick smoke visible across the area.
Motorists travelling along the A12 have reported seeing the smoke from the nearby carriageway, prompting concern among residents and drivers.
The London Fire Brigade is at the scene working to bring the fire under control.
Residents in the vicinity are advised to keep windows and doors closed if affected by smoke and to avoid the area where possible to allow emergency services to carry out their work safely

The fire initially started at 2:05pm and re-ignited multiple times, houses were evacuated due to smoke.
