‘Stopping the Boats and Deporting Illegal Immigrants Will Happen Under Reform UK’-Andrew Rosindell MP
Romford MP Andrew Rosindell has declared that illegal immigration will be tackled through tougher border controls and deportations if Reform UK forms the next government.
The comments come after the Member of Parliament for Romford stated that only a Reform UK government led by Nigel Farage would deliver the changes many voters have been calling for on immigration.
Mr Rosindell writes in the Havering Daily:
Stopping the Boats, Deporting Illegal Immigrants and Strictly Controlling who is allowed to come to these islands, will happen with Nigel Farage as Prime Minister and a Reform UK government in power!
For too long, the British people have watched governments of all colours fail to tackle one of the great crises of modern Britain – that of illegal migration across the English Channel. Every year, between 40,000 and 50,000 people enter the United Kingdom illegally in small boats, yet the prospect of swift removal is virtually non-existent. The result is a system that has reached breaking point.
People across Romford and Havering regularly tell me that they have lost confidence in our immigration system. They believe, quite rightly, that Britain should be a welcoming country to a limited number of prople who come to the UK legally, contribute to our society, speak the English language and respect our laws and the British way of life. However, they also expect our borders to be secure and our laws to be enforced. That is the foundation of any sovereign nation.
Instead, taxpayers are footing an ever-growing bill for accommodation, support payments, legal processes, and sustenance for those who have entered the country unlawfully. At the same time, and I am acutely aware of this given the avalanche of housing enquiries that are made to my parliamentary office every day, many of our own people struggle to access housing, public services and support they deserve. It is particularly difficult to justify a system where illegal entrants can expect accommodation and financial assistance when many veterans who served this country have, at times, found themselves without the same level of support. This is a twisted reality that needs correcting.
To put the scale of the crisis into perspective, the number of illegal migrants arriving by small boat each year is comparable to the total annual level of net legal migration to Britain during the 1990s. That illustrates just how dramatically the situation has changed, and why so many people feel the current system is no longer fit for purpose.
Reform UK has this week outlined a way forward to this ever-growing problem. Its newly announced proposal, “Operation Fortress”, would fundamentally change how Britain responds to illegal crossings. The policy would see the Royal Navy, working alongside other branches of the Armed Forces and civilian agencies, intercept every unauthorised vessel attempting to cross the English Channel before it reaches British shores. Those on board would be transferred safely onto Royal Navy vessels, given any necessary medical assistance, and returned to France or Belgium.
The proposal would establish a joint military command involving the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, RAF and British Army, supported by advanced surveillance technology including drones, aircraft, helicopters, satellites and infrared monitoring to detect and intercept crossings before they reach the UK.
If people know that crossing the Channel illegally will not result in settlement in Britain, the incentive to make these dangerous journeys is removed. Criminal gangs who profit from human misery would lose their business model, lives would no longer be put at risk in the Channel, and Britain’s borders would once again be protected.
There is a clear international precedent for this approach. In 2013, Australia launched “Operation Sovereign Borders”, a policy that bears many similarities to the one proposed by Reform UK. The result was a dramatic reduction in illegal boat arrivals, helping Australia regain control of its borders and restore confidence in the integrity of its immigration system.
And remember, this policy is accompanied by Reform UK’s pledge to deport every migrant who has entered this country illegally. Britain must now show strength. If you break our laws and have no right to be in this country, you will be deported.
Predictably, critics will claim that such action is too robust. Yet every nation has both the right and the responsibility to defend its borders. Britain cannot continue to operate a system where tens of thousands of people arrive illegally every year with little realistic prospect of removal.
Of course, illegal immigration is only a small part of the problem. The rates of legal migration into this country are completely unsustainable and demand a radical reduction if we are to achieve a quality of life which our people rightly expect and future generations deserve. Perhaps most importantly, a reduction in legal migration is paramount to ensure we preserve our British way of life.
Residents across Havering expect common sense. They expect immigration to be controlled, the law to be enforced and public money to be spent wisely. Above all, they expect politicians to keep the promises they make.
One contributing factor to why I left the Conservative Party is that I could not stand at your doorstep and promise a reduction in immigration with the election of a Conservative Government. It was promised by the Conservative leadership election after election, but under their watch, the crisis only got worse. Confidence in our immigration system has been eroded because successive governments have repeatedly failed to deliver meaningful action.
Reform UK’s Operation Fortress represents a fundamentally different approach. Whether people agree with every aspect of the proposal or not, it reflects a growing public demand for decisive action to restore control of our borders and ensure that Britain once again decides who comes into our country – not the criminal gangs operating in the Channel.
For most people in Romford and throughout Havering, action to stop the boats, deport illegal immigrants and strictly control who is allowed to come to these islands, is long overdue. Nigel Farage as our next Prime Minister and a Reform UK government will make it happen.

Well, I wish Andrew would get into a few boats and row the other way across the channel and leave us all in peace. I’ve worked HO immigration for 15 years with asylum seeker and I’d rather have them living next door to me than anybody like him, full of negativity and hate. I pity his one track obsession 😢
