BREAKING: Grass Fire Sends Thick Smoke Across A12 As Drivers Forced to Turn Back.
A large fire has broken out on what is believed to be a farmer’s field near the A12 at the Mawney Road junction, sending thick black smoke billowing across one of Havering’s busiest roads.
Motorists are reportedly being forced to turn around as visibility rapidly deteriorates, with smoke drifting across the A12 and creating hazardous driving conditions.
Emergency services are believed to be making their way to the scene as the blaze continues to spread.
Residents nearby have reported seeing large plumes of smoke rising into the sky, with the fire visible from a considerable distance.
Drivers are being urged to avoid the area if possible and seek alternative routes until the incident is brought under control.
