Fire at Launders Lane as 60 Firefighters Battle Blaze at Waste Site
Firefighters worked through the night to tackle another fire at Launders Lane after piles of waste caught alight, with crews facing difficult access to the site.
Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters were called to an open area off Launders Lane at 4.42pm yesterday (Tuesday) after a fire broke out involving piles of waste left at the location.
Crews from Wennington, Hornchurch, Dagenham and surrounding fire stations battled the blaze throughout the night, working in challenging conditions due to limited access to the site.
Firefighters remain at the scene to damp down the remaining pockets of fire and ensure the area was made safe.
The London Fire Brigade was first called to the incident at 4.42pm, with multiple crews responding quickly to bring the blaze under control.
The latest incident is likely to cause further concern for local residents, who have repeatedly raised issues about fires at the Launders Lane site in recent years.
Please note the sign with radiation on it being used across social media was used by accident as firefighters tried to quickly close the road off.
