Havering Police’s New Vehicle Watch Scheme Launched To Protect Tradespeople From Tool Theft
Tradespeople across Havering are being offered a powerful new weapon in the fight against van and tool theft as Havering Police launch an innovative vehicle protection scheme.
The new CT1 Vehicle Watch Scheme aims to crack down on criminals who target trade vans and the valuable tools inside them, helping protect the livelihoods of local workers.
The scheme invites van owners to sign up to a monitored vehicle watch programme, providing an additional and highly visible layer of security. Participants will receive professionally installed tamper-proof identification stickers, clearly showing that their vehicle is registered under the scheme and may attract police attention where appropriate and with the owner’s consent.
By making vehicles instantly recognisable, the CT1 Vehicle Watch Scheme acts as a strong deterrent to thieves while also helping police identify stolen vehicles more quickly, improving recovery rates and reducing further crime linked to stolen vans and tools.
The initiative brings together police, security partners and the public to create a proactive network focused on crime prevention and supporting tradespeople in protecting the tools they rely on every day.
This unique pilot scheme is being rolled out across Havering and Essex and is currently limited to the first 1,000 registered vans.
With demand expected to be high, eligible van owners are being urged to register as soon as possible.
Best of all, the scheme is completely free to join and comes with no ongoing obligations, making it a simple and practical way for tradespeople to add an extra layer of protection to their vehicles.
