Exclusive: Gallows Corner Delayed Yet Again As Completion Date Pushed Back To Mid October.
After months of disruption, delays and ever-changing completion dates, the ongoing works at Gallows Corner have suffered yet another setback. Essex and Suffolk Water has confirmed that it has encountered a major problem during the works and now expects the project to be completed by mid-October.
Havering Council Leader Councillor Keith Prince.
The latest announcement means the finishing line has been moved once again in what many residents are describing as an ongoing shambles.
Indeed, many have now lost track of just how many times the completion date has been changed since the works first began.
Havering’s Leader of the Council and London Assembly Member for Havering and Redbridge, Councillor Keith Prince, has repeatedly demanded regular updates on the project and has continued to press Transport for London and those responsible for the works for answers.
Reacting to the latest delay, Councillor Prince told the Havering Daily:
“As the London Assembly Member for Havering and Redbridge, I know just how frustrated residents have become with the ongoing disruption at Gallows Corner.
“This junction is a vital route for local people and I have continued to press TfL for answers and a clear timetable for full completion.
“Residents deserve better than repeated delays. I will continue using my position at City Hall and my new role as Leader of Havering Council to ensure TfL understands the impact these works are having on our borough.”
For motorists, businesses and local residents, the latest announcement will do little to restore confidence.
What was once expected to be a temporary period of disruption has become a seemingly never-ending saga of delays, revised schedules and mounting frustration.
Gallows Corner is one of the borough’s busiest junctions and plays a critical role in keeping traffic moving across Havering and into neighbouring areas.
Instead, residents have faced months of congestion, diversions and uncertainty, with the promised finish line appearing to move further away each time it comes into sight.
Now, with completion pushed back to mid-October, many will be asking the same question:
Will this finally be the last delay, or will the finishing line move once again?
