“Another shocking situation at Bridge Close, Romford yesterday. Cars completely blocked roads and access routes around the local mosque during religious gatherings with absolutely no thought for the emergency ambulance station nearby.

Residents and workers on Bridge Close in Romford have spoken of their anger and frustration after what they described as “horrendous” traffic scenes during Eid celebrations on Wednesday.

Those working near the Islamic Cultural Centre say the situation is no longer a one-off incident and claim similar scenes unfold every Friday, leaving roads gridlocked, businesses disrupted and access routes blocked.

Many local workers say they are now completely fed up with the ongoing chaos and are demanding urgent action before the situation spirals even further out of control.

One retail worker told the Havering Daily:

“Another shocking situation at Bridge Close, Romford yesterday. Cars completely blocked roads and access routes around the local mosque during religious gatherings with absolutely no thought for the emergency ambulance station nearby.

What made the situation even worse was the attitude of some people involved. As they returned to their cars, some were laughing and showing no concern whatsoever for the chaos they had caused. Disgusting is an understatement.

Local businesses have reportedly raised concerns and complaints time and time again, yet there continues to be no proper enforcement, no traffic control, and no visible council presence to prevent this ongoing disruption.

Police only attended after a fight broke out otherwise the situation would once again have been ignored.

This happens regularly, week after week, and something needs to change before a real tragedy happens. Saving lives should always come before everything else.”

Another worker added:

“Staff couldn’t get into the area to park and deliveries had to be aborted due to this.”

The scenes during Eid have sparked fresh calls from nearby workers and residents for a proper traffic management system to be put in place around Bridge Close, particularly during busy periods of worship and religious events.

Workers in the area say the disruption is now becoming a weekly ordeal every Friday and believe authorities have failed to get a grip on the ongoing parking and congestion problems.

Residents are now urging Havering Council and police to step in with immediate action before a serious incident occurs..
